About Us

Somali Vulnerable Actors (SOVA) is a non-profit making organization founded by a group of diaspora and local Youth professionals having different specialties, which came up with the views of establishing the pillars of this organization on 2012 in MOGADISHU. SOVA is registered with the Ministry of interior and the regional federal states .Somali Vulnerable Actors (SOVA) was founded to assist the poor, marginalized and under-developed communities whose lives have been exacerbated by recurrent drought and prolonged civil wars, which almost destroyed their entire resources base.

Economic constraints and reform programmes are affecting the weakest members of society, mainly women and children. Food insecurity is widespread and child malnutrition endemic. In addition, increasing difficulty in raising resources jeopardizes children’s survival needs in emergencies and beyond.

The ‘complex emergency’ situation in Somalia presents many obstacles for humanitarian agencies, not least issues of insecurity and the weakness of an accountable authority with which to develop a meaningful partnership. It does however provide other opportunities for building alliances and developing local capacity with groups who also have an interest in positively impacting on the lives of vulnerable children and women.
